Message From Our CEO – Tina Carter

Although the weather may not feel like fall quite yet, I’m looking forward to the days when cool breezes and fall colors transform the world around us. That transformation reminds all of us of the constant change in our lives and the ability we must create change for others. It’s empowering and humbling. It’s exciting and a bit scary. We all face change constantly, and we depend on the support of friends, family, and organizations like the YMCA to navigate that change successfully. I’m so proud to know that the work being done by our staff, volunteers, and teams provide a safety net for all people in our community to manage and thrive in the transformations of our lives, both big and small.

There has been much work done and is still being done within our YMCA. The new community room will be offering classes for our members soon, our downtown Men’s shower room is getting a much-needed facelift and we have our gymnasium that will be getting work completed in late 2023 early 2024. The end of this year is bringing about big change for our Vernon members, with a move into our newly renovated space at Griffin Motors, we have gotten off to a slow start because we wanted the Taj Mahal but realized we needed to scale back a bit. We are very excited that we will be able to offer Child Watch, an area for our Trainers and a HIIT area for those of you who are looking for something a little different than the normal cardio or strength training. We will give some sneak peak photos as we go along, watch our Facebook page for updated photos.

We have our annual Purse Bingo on October 14th at 7PM at Active Aging which will support our Scholarship Campaign, a campaign that supports local families with membership, early learning and afterschool care, veterans, and our food distribution program. We hope to see many of you there!

This year so far has been full of projects and many changes with many more to come, please be patient as we navigate through all of our projects, we appreciate your support and understanding.

Thank you and God Bless,
Tina

Thank You for a Successful August Golf Outing!

Another year completed with hosting our Meadville YMCA’s Annual Art Cocolin Memorial Golf Outing! Our golf outing was held at Venango Valley Inn & Golf Course and had 20 4-person teams. We want to thank our staff, volunteers, golf-teams, sponsors, and all those who helped make this a great golf outing event. With all of your support we were successful in raising over $5,000 towards our Scholarship Campaign to continue to provide for youth in our community.

Hiring and Volunteering at the Y

We Are Hiring!
Imagine going to work knowing that what you do each day positively affects the lives of the people in your community. Working at the Y, you’ll discover more than a job – you’ll enjoy the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of those around you. The Meadville Family YMCA currently has several part-time and full-time positions open. Check out our Facebook page and website to see our current open positions!

Volunteers Needed!
The Meadville Family YMCA is a volunteer-founded, volunteer-led organization. Working locally, we focus on empowering young people, improving health and well-being, and inspiring action in and across communities. By bringing people together from different backgrounds, perspectives and generations, we ensure that we all have access to the opportunities, relationships and resources necessary to learn, grow and thrive. With a focus on developing the potential of youth, improving individual health and well-being, and giving back to and supporting communities, your participation brings about meaningful change not just within yourself, but also in your community. When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in creating significant change right in your own neighborhood. Volunteers are essential to the work we do and the goals we want to achieve in our community.
